12 years later

Sharing this from our Facebook page.
Yesterday's post.
9/11.
Hard to imagine its already been 12 years.

I cringed a little bit at the blue sky this a.m. It was just too easy to recall the footage.

The first plane flying into the twin towers against that bright blue sky. Then the next plane hit, taking out all hope of an accident.

The dumbfounded faces of the news anchors. The red ticker tape at the bottom of the screen blinking out the latest fear...another plane. Another crash. And of course, the surreal moment when we, as a nation, witnessed the towers fall.

And the firefighters and paramedics run towards the nightmare. Desperate to help. Desperate to comfort.

When I think back on this day, I try to remember not only how vulnerable we are, but also how beautiful we can be. In the very darkest of hours, heroes were made. Simple acts of sharing water bottles and holding weeping strangers, reminded me that we belong to each other. Not just some of us. All of us.

Each one of us has something to make this world more beautiful. Something to give. A waterbottle to share with a stranger. A fire to run towards.

Wishing you the opportunity to share your best self on this somber day, MOS.
