12 years later

Sharing this from our Facebook page.
Yesterday's post.
9/11.
Hard to imagine its already been 12 years.

I cringed a little bit at the blue sky this a.m. It was just too easy to recall the footage.

The first plane flying into the twin towers against that bright blue sky. Then the next plane hit, taking out all hope of an accident.

The dumbfounded faces of the news anchors. The red ticker tape at the bottom of the screen blinking out the latest fear...another plane. Another crash. And of course, the surreal moment when we, as a nation, witnessed the towers fall.

And the firefighters and paramedics run towards the nightmare. Desperate to help. Desperate to comfort.

When I think back on this day, I try to remember not only how vulnerable we are, but also how beautiful we can be. In the very darkest of hours, heroes were made. Simple acts of sharing water bottles and holding weeping strangers, reminded me that we belong to each other. Not just some of us. All of us.

Each one of us has something to make this world more beautiful. Something to give. A waterbottle to share with a stranger. A fire to run towards.

Wishing you the opportunity to share your best self on this somber day, MOS.

Exciting News!

The big mamma jamma's want to share some
EXCITING news!
Beginning Thursdays
we'll be kicking off our OWN column in the
Stillwater Gazette!
You heard me!
We'll be sharing more of our ten-kinds-of-crazy rants but also mindful inspirations in a weekly column.
Don't read the paper? GO BUY ONE!
It's $.75 an issue or you can become a subscriber to their weekly paper (issued W, Th, and F.)
And you can find US on Page 2 every Thursday.
This won't be a "ask us" type of column,
because, let's be honest,
we're in no position to be giving advice (it'd be illegal, for sure,) but a column promising to stir emotion, packed with humor and whatever's going on in our crazy Moms of Stillwater world that week.
(Simply an extension on what you read here!)
If you want to start subscribing,
go to the Stillwater Gazette's website and order today.
Or, again, you can purchase at any newsstand around town.
This column will be in the PAPER ONLY!
Not here, not on the website, IN PRINT!
Papers hit news stands at 3:30pm. Send the kids off on a playdate, grab a stiff drink and open the paper (ah, love the feeling of a crisp, new paper in my hands,)
put down your iphone, your ipad, your computer,
step away form your digital world for a minute.
See you on Thursdays!

Welcome, mama.
You're home, in Stillwater, Minnesota.
If you're a mom in this beautiful little river town,
 alongside the St. Croix,
(and even if you're not,)
drag a dirty carpet square over here next to us
and share in the community of mama love.

We've created this special little site just for you,
a much more organized and motivated "sister" to our Facebook page.
This will be updated as often as possible
(you know, when the kids are in front of the T.V., which is often,)
with upcoming local family-friendly events in Stillwater and the surrounding towns,
our favorite reads,
recipes,
and each week, a special feature of all
our amazing mama-owned local businesses.
AND of course, featuring local mama artists,
bloggers and
all things juicy and witty that comes out of our big, fat mouths.

Grab some coffee, take a walk through our mutha'hood
and enjoy.

P.S.  A HUGE, HUGE mama hug to Jana of Little Web Writing Hood
for bringing this site to life,
for taking care of us and putting up with us.
You are simply amazing.
